Capitol Police on Tuesday began arresting pro-Palestinian demonstrators who took part in a sit-in demonstration in the Canon Rotunda calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

“The group of people legally entered the Cannon House office building after passing screening. Demonstrations are not allowed inside the Capitol building, so when they started protesting and did not stop, we arrested them. “Arrests are ongoing,” the U.S. Capitol Police Department said. a police spokesperson said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital.

The video shows a group of about 150 to 200 Mennonites sitting on the ground singing hymns, with words like “Keep Gaza alive” and “Free all hostages” written on them. Some people held up placards.

They also shouted “cease fire now” before officers approached and selected individuals to detain.

The protesters appeared to respond by standing up and having officers zip tie their wrists before being escorted out of the building.
