The parents of University of Idaho stabbing victim Kaylee Gonsalves want a judge to soon schedule a trial for the man suspected of killing her and three of her friends, according to a new interview.
Latah County District Judge John Judge previously scheduled a hearing Friday afternoon on prosecutors' request for summer proceedings.
Gonsalves and her classmates died in the early hours of November 13, 2022, after a masked man entered her off-campus rental home with a knife and brutally murdered them.

Prosecutors say the man was Brian Koberger, whose DNA was recovered from the sheath of a Carver knife found under the body of Gonsalves' best friend, Madison Morgen, 21. The two were murdered in a third-floor bedroom.
Two other victims, Zana Karnodol and Ethan Chapin, both 20, were found on the second floor and were masked before the surviving housemate left through the back door, according to court filings. He said he encountered an intruder.

Prosecutors asked the judge to set a trial date for the summer, when the university is on vacation.
There is also a high school across the street from the courthouse, and prosecutors have expressed concerns about a lack of parking and pedestrian safety issues if the trial takes place during the school year.

Koberger could face the death penalty if convicted of any of the four first-degree murder charges he faces.
A judge entered not guilty pleas on his behalf to those charges and the felony robbery charge at his arraignment in May.
At the time of the murder, Koberger was studying for his Ph.D. He received his doctorate in criminology from Washington State University, about 16 miles from the University of Idaho.
