The Republican National Committee is withdrawing a resolution declaring Donald Trump the candidate.

according to dispatch Thursday's draft resolution would have declared Trump the party's nominee and focused his efforts on defeating Joe Biden.

The resolution comes after Speaker Ronna McDaniel said it was time for Republicans to unite behind Trump.

She pointed to historic wins in both Iowa and New Hampshire. Additionally, she stated that it was time for Nikki Haley to leave.

“If she were to come in second here, I don't see a path forward. President Trump has won by double digits in both states, but this is unprecedented,” McDaniel said. “This is not the RNC saying this, this is not the establishment saying it. This is the voters saying it. As we look at the path forward, we need to start from a place of individuality.” Please remove it.”

“Are you telling Nikki Haley to get out?” the Fox News anchor asked.

“All I'm saying is, look at the path and the math,” she continued.

But Trump said Thursday on Truth Social that he strongly opposes the RNC declaring him the candidate before he has enough delegates.

President Trump praised the move, but said he wanted to defeat Nikki Haley the old-fashioned way at the polls to unify the party.
