A Detroit family is grappling with whether to remove the father of six from life support after he died. brutally beaten by three dogs.
Harold Phillips’ family said three dogs escaped from a neighbor’s backyard and attacked him as he was walking home from the bus stop on Monday.
“The dogs bit him in the groin, head, back and legs, hurting him,” his wife, Shawntae Phillips, told WJBK-TV. “Your dogs should know, they’re supposed to guard your home, he’s not bothering anyone, he was walking home to his family. .”
She said they may have to take him off life support. On Monday, doctors amputated his arm above the elbow.
Haroon Phillips, the victim’s son, said: “If you don’t know how to house a dog, don’t buy one. Dogs are just a detriment to society.”
“It should be justice, but I can’t say anything. It’s my father, it’s him. He shouldn’t die like this, he’s too strong,” he added.
“My heart was broken because I didn’t have a father to take care of me,” said Haley Phillips, the victim’s daughter.
