Haley Felt ‘Stupid’ After Failing to Say Slavery Caused Civil War

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley asked radio host and author Charlamagne the God in December after failing to point out that slavery was the cause of the Civil War: “Do you think I’m stupid?” ‘ and answered in the affirmative.

Charlamagne confronted Haley in late December about her viral word salad response to a town hall attendee in New Hampshire and said, “The cause of the Civil War was basically the way the government was run.”

“Why didn’t you say at the beginning, ‘This is about slavery’?” the host asked Wednesday.

Hailey thought the man was “trying to ask something else” and replied, “I could tell he wasn’t a fan.”

“The first thing that came out of my mouth was slavery. I mean, growing up in South Carolina, we all knew the Civil War was about slavery. That’s almost too easy. I didn’t say it because I thought he was asking a more difficult question,” she said.

“That was wrong. I should have said that,” Haley continued, adding, “I was overthinking that question.”

“Did you feel stupid that night?” Charlamagne asked.

“Yeah, I mean, I was pissed because slavery was the norm, it was the norm, but I was more busy trying to determine his intentions than answering the question.” she answered.

The attendee, who did not mention slavery in his Dec. 27 response, said, “It’s amazing to me that in 2023 you would answer that question without mentioning the word slavery.” .

“What do you want to say about slavery?” Haley shot back.

The next day, Haley appeared on a local radio show and declared that she believed “the Civil War was about slavery.” The heartbeat of New Hampshire. But she also claimed the man was a “Democrat.”

“Why are they hitting me? Look what it is… They want to counter Trump,” Haley told the show. “At City Hall, I answer all the questions, but at City Hall, the questions are planted.”

“It was definitely a Democratic factory. When I asked him, he didn’t want to answer. He didn’t give his name to reporters,” she added.
