Gov. Newsom pulls a Karen when Target employee blames him to his face for shoplifting epidemic: ‘Where’s your manager?’

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) acknowledged Wednesday that he once sought out the manager of a Target employee because he blamed the employee for a shoplifting epidemic.

Newsom spoke on a Zoom call with California mayors about what he called “my target story.” Newsom said she was in line at the checkout line at Target when she saw a man leave the store without paying for his items. When he confronted a Target employee about the incident, the employee blamed him.

“I said, ‘Why didn’t you stop him?’ She said, ‘Oh, the governor.’ A true story of a vow to God on her mother’s grave. “The governor lowered the bar. There was no accountability,” Newsom recalled.

“I said that’s not true. I said we have the 10th toughest $950 in America,” he continued. “She said, ‘We’re not going to stop them because of the governor.'”

Newsom said the employee eventually realized he was talking to the very person he was accusing. Newsom claimed the employee then asked for a photo, but he denied the request. He explained:

“No, I’m not taking pictures. I’m having a conversation. Where’s the manager? How are you accusing the governor?” And later it was $380 So I thought, “Why would I spend $380 when everyone else can just walk there?”

It’s true that Newsom doesn’t. directly He is responsible for widespread organized retail theft in California.

However, as of December 2021, Newsom said: publicly defended Proposition 47 is a law passed in 2014 that lowers some nonviolent crimes from felonies to misdemeanors. Specifically regarding shoplifting, stealing merchandise with a property value of less than $950 has been reclassified as a misdemeanor.

After Proposition 47 was passed, nonviolent crimes such as shoplifting and theft increased in California. And when California cities began to elect far-left prosecutors who disliked prosecuting petty criminals, shoplifting went relatively unchecked and organized retail theft became rampant.

To his credit, Newm. I’m currently trying to alleviate some issues Although Proposition 47 delivered results, he stopped short of asking voters to reconsider the law.

Still, the irony is rich. California Democrats have long supported lowering penalties for low-level crimes such as shoplifting. But when they witness such crimes or become victims of crimes themselves, suddenly it becomes a real problem for them.

“Shout out to this clerk for saying what every Californian wanted to say: about the governor and his extremists, to the governor’s face.” @CA_Dem Our comrades are responsible for the sharp increase in crime in CA.” Said California Republican Party Chairwoman Jessica Millan Patterson;

“Unfortunately, Newsom didn’t seem to get the hint yet,” she added.
