On Monday’s broadcast of NBC’s “Late Night,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said that while “60% of workers are living paycheck to paycheck,” said they should vote to re-elect President Joe Biden. We’re doing very well, unemployment is very low, we’re creating tons of jobs and rebuilding American manufacturing. ”
In response to a question about why people should vote for Biden, Sanders said: We’re talking about income and wealth inequality, we’re talking about 60% of workers living paycheck to paycheck, we’re talking about the existential threat that this country faces in climate change. We’re talking about a big problem. But instead of focusing on those problems and offering solutions, what Trump is trying to do is make us hate each other based on where we were born, the color of our skin, and our sexual orientation. Thing. And we can never allow that to happen. On top of that, we have President Trump who has given massive tax cuts to the wealthy at a time of unprecedented income and wealth inequality. That’s what they need most. This man wants to strip tens of millions of people from health insurance and has appointed anti-union members in his administration to make it harder for workers to form unions. And he says, women across this country are fighting for the right to control their own bodies, and he’s trying to take that away. I mean, that’s Trump. ”
He continued, “And on the other hand, in the case of Biden, I’m not going to sit here. I ran against Biden, so I’m not going to sit here and say I agree with everything Joe Biden is doing. I’m not saying we will. No, it’s not that big of a deal. But on the other hand, we’re the first president in American history to walk on a picket line with workers, which is pretty impressive. As you point out, the economy is very strong, the unemployment rate is very low, and we’re creating a ton of jobs and increasing American manufacturing. So we’re starting to move in the right direction. In my opinion, we still have a lot of work to do, but the choice in this election is very clear. If you don’t believe in democracy, if you really want to turn your back on the millions of men and women who fought to protect democracy, then I think Trump is your candidate. If you believe in kimono, [which] It’s about all of us coming together as one people, believing in the rule of law, and Biden being your candidate. ”
