The girlfriend of the man suspected of fatally shooting seven relatives and eight other people in a Chicago suburb last month pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges of obstruction of justice.
Kylie Cleveland Singleton, 21, of Joliet, entered the plea in Will County Court. She remains under house arrest.
Prosecutors allege she provided false information to authorities during the investigation and search for her boyfriend, Romeo Nance, 23. Police said Nance shot and killed seven of her family members and another man before fleeing to Texas, where he was killed as a U.S. marshal. She approached him.

Joliet police said Cleveland Singleton agreed to be interviewed by police on Jan. 22 after she was identified as Nance’s girlfriend and the mother of his 3-year-old son. That day, Nance shot himself.
The eight people police say Nance shot to death were found between January 22 and 23, authorities said. A motive for the killing has not been revealed.

The shooting victim was identified as Nance’s mother, Tamaeka Nance, 47. his younger brother Joshua Nance, 31; younger sister Alexandria Nance, 20; She has two younger sisters, ages 16 and 14. her aunt Kristin Esters, 38; and his uncle William Esther II (35).
Another man, 28-year-old Toyosi Bakare, was shot to death outside his apartment. Police said Nance appears to have fired randomly at himself and another man, wounding him in the leg.
Police said Nance shot himself after being found by federal marshals near Natalia, Texas, about 30 miles southwest of San Antonio and more than 1,000 miles from Joliet.
Medina County, Texas, Sheriff Randy Brown said he believes Nance was trying to reach Mexico, about 190 miles south along Interstate 35 from Natalia.
