According to Texas State Police, the children reported horrific torture the mother said after an hours-long standoff with SWAT teams.
Police attempted to serve an arrest warrant at the Allen woman’s home on Monday, but she resisted police action for two hours and was eventually arrested.
Video showed a SWAT team with an armored vehicle outside the Tanglewood Drive home after 36-year-old Lulu Topp barricaded herself in the attic of her home.
After the standoff ended, a neighbor captured video of the woman being led away in handcuffs.
According to the arrest warrant, Topp was being investigated for reports of assault against her husband, but police expanded their investigation after questioning her children and hearing testimony of torture.
A woman was called to her home on January 8th after allegedly hitting her husband with a stick.
The children reportedly told police that Topp had repeatedly threatened to kill them and even tried to put the 3-year-old in a hot oven. The children told them their mother drank alcohol and that she got angry when they couldn’t find the alcohol, according to the affidavit.
The children were asked about “scars that looked like they were cut with a knife” on their bodies, and Topp said he “used a knife on them to get those scars,” according to the report.
He also allegedly threatened to cut off his fingers and hands with a kitchen knife. One boy said she held a knife to his tongue and forced him to give her alcohol, which he spat out.
Following a complaint to police, Child Protective Services removed the children from the home.
Topp was charged with six felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the Collin County Jail.
A neighbor named William Whitney told KDFW-TV that Topp came to his home and asked if he could borrow Wi-Fi internet service.
“Strange things always happen there. The police were always there,” Whitney said. “I saw kids playing alone in the back without supervision. And to know that that was actually happening is sad. It’s really sad.”
