Sanctuary City Mayor Cuts Services for Americans, Blames Trump

Rather than curbing the welcome of tens of thousands of illegal immigrants, the Democratic mayor of Denver, Colorado, is imposing a wartime-style “common sacrifice” on Americans.

Mayor Mike Johnston (D-Colo.), like other Democratic big city mayors, hopes the sacrifices made on Americans will boost turnout against former President Donald Trump.

Johnston spoke at a press conference on February 9, three days after a Republican revolt blocked an immigration deal pushed by Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.). Mr. McConnell’s deal opened Americans’ borders to a massive influx of government-directed immigrants and also provided $5 billion to help settle immigrants in countless cities and towns.

“This is a plan for shared sacrifice,” said Johnston, who has already provided aid and support to 35,000 undocumented immigrants, slamming Republicans for defending Americans.

I came here because of the devastating impact of the Republican leadership in the Legislature’s failure to pass a change of government this week, and how that will affect both the city’s budget and the services it can provide to city newcomers. To talk a little bit about. …We will have to greenlight a series of difficult decisions regarding budget cuts across the city to address the costs we know will continue to occur.

A Congressional Budget Office report in February provided further evidence that establishment immigration policies shift family wages and workplace investments. wall streetreal estate, coastal states, and government, while simultaneously diverting politicians’ focus from America’s communities.

in denverfor example, 20,000 hospital visits by the Democratic Party’s wave of poor immigrants forced a partial closure of city hospitals, Breitbart News reported in January.

In a Feb. 7 speech to Democratic voters, Johnston dismissed criticism by pretending that everyone believed Americans should welcome Biden’s massive influx of illegal immigrants. Biden described them as “newcomers…people” to the neighborhood.

Today is a heartbreaking and outrageous day for Denver residents. Because we know that this city, which is trying to welcome newcomers to build a new life, is in the midst of a humanitarian crisis… There was actually a bipartisan Senate agreement to address the needs. That’s what we have…[Trump] He intervened with the House Republican leadership to kill the bill to keep this crisis going simply because he believed he had a good chance of being re-elected.

Johnston portrayed himself as a wartime leader.

Folks, elected officials who took an oath of office to protect and serve this country are intentionally harming our country and harming cities like ours for their own political gain. Imagine being there. …That’s because after 9/11, George Bush said, “Maybe I’ll let my guard down, and there will be another terrorist attack, and that will increase my chances of being re-elected.” It would be the same.

Johnston slams Republicans’ wildly popular defense of America’s border as “cynical,” while pushing progressive-style defense against immigration that sidelines millions of ordinary Americans and pushes them into poverty. Ta.

That kind of cynicism, that kind of malicious intent to make Americans suffer and to make cities suffer should disqualify you from seeking public office in this country…if you want a government that serves cities and people. [including migrants], you should pay attention to those who reject it. And we have to remember when it comes time to vote, I know we will. I hope you do the same.

The strategy of blaming Trump and the Republican Party for President Joe Biden’s mistakes is central to Democrats’ 2024 turnout plans.

“I want to be absolutely clear about what happens if the bill fails,” Biden told reporters at the White House on Tuesday, just before Republican senators monitoring polls rallied around McConnell’s proposal. I want to,” he said. Mr. Biden continued:

The American people will know why it fails. I’m going to bring this issue home… because every day from now until November, the American people will learn that the only reason our border is not secure is because of Donald Trump and his MAGA Republican friends. Sho.

Representative Jacob Auchincloss (D-MA) Said “It’s shameful that the Republican Party has torpedoed Donald Trump out of submission,” he told a Boston television station on February 9.

The Democratic Party’s blame-shifting strategy is enabled by establishment media efforts to blame President Trump for unpopular Democratic policies.

david brooks new york times Pro-immigration columnist I have written On McConnell’s pro-immigration border bill:

This week’s Immigration-Ukraine-Israel package is one of the most unilateral compromises I’ve ever seen. Republicans got most of their long-term priorities, Democrats got almost none of them…yet one Republican after another opposed this policy, and the policies they wanted It was argued that not everything was completely included.

Dan Baltz, Establishment Reporter washington post I have written:

However, the impact of the failure of the Senate’s policy plan is that while Mr. Trump and the Republican Party are responsible for sinking the policy plan that Republicans and Democrats negotiated in the Senate for months, it is President Biden who is in the position of a politician. It means that there is. He has faced the brunt of public anger over a surge of migrants at the border during his tenure.

like johnston many other Democratsshifted his progressive sympathies from proud Americans to poor immigrants who gratefully reciprocated his charity.

But while Johnston champions immigration, many Americans living in Denver have to deal with the resulting rise in housing costs, lower wages and an epidemic of drug addiction.
