Schumer: Biden’s mental acuity is ‘great’

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York told reporters Tuesday morning, responding to concerns raised by the special counsel’s report that President Biden has a “poor memory,” saying that President Biden has “poor memory.” It’s amazing.”

“I talk to President Biden regularly, usually a few times a week. His mental acuity is great, okay, as good as it’s been in years,” Schumer said in response to a question. .

“I’ve been talking to him for 30 years, ever since I worked on the Brady bill, the assault weapons ban, when I was a young congressman,” Schumer said.

“He’s fine. All the right-wing propaganda that his mental strength is declining is wrong,” Schumer said.

Democratic senators have not politicized Biden’s age or memory at their caucus lunches, but some Democrats say many voters think Biden is too old for the job. I am privately concerned about public opinion polls showing this.

Fifty-nine percent of Americans think Biden and former President Trump are too old to serve as president, according to an ABC News/Ipsos poll released Sunday.

An NBC News poll released last week found that three-quarters of voters and half of Democratic voters said they were concerned about Biden’s physical and mental health.

Schumer rejected the polls and insisted Biden was in a strong position to win a second term.

“He will win the election because he has a great track record, because more Americans are seeing that record, because the economy is improving, and because many Americans, including Republicans, “This is because they fear Donald Trump’s inauguration as president.”

The Labor Department reported Tuesday that consumer prices rose 3.1% from a year earlier, but it was down from December, when prices rose 3.4% compared to December of last year.

However, the figure was slightly higher than the annual inflation rate of 2.9% in January that economists had expected.
