Vermont prosecutors appear to have burned some bridges with law enforcement recently. Not only was she arrested for attending a crime scene investigation while under the influence of alcohol, but afterwards she lashed out at the police, insulting their intelligence and claiming that she was “not her anymore.” [felt] They are safe around them.

While in the barracks, she also reportedly suggested that state troopers exercise “discretion” and not pursue charges. Similarly, she claimed in her affidavit that a police officer would “undermine” the relationships her office has “worked hard to build with law enforcement.”
Even after she was released and presumably sobered up, Vekos continued to abuse local police. In her email correspondence less than a week after her arrest, she wrote that her only encounters with law enforcement officials would be for the time being. ”[B]”I will be attending the next chief’s meeting by video because I no longer feel safe around law enforcement,” she wrote. In an email that had grammatical errors as pointed out by VT Digger, she also stated that police officers have the intellectual capacity of an “elementary school student” and that her “educational training” in “grammar skills” was therefore ” was desperately needed.
