A painting of George Washington dating back to the 1800s was stolen from a storage facility in Englewood, Colorado, last month, police said Tuesday.
Police believe the painting was stolen late at night on January 10th, but the theft was not immediately discovered.
“We don’t see a lot of historical artifacts and historic art being stolen from this city,” Crystal Esman of the Inglewood Police Department told Fox 31 Denver.
Police say the portrait has been in the family’s possession for 50 years and was created in the early 1800s. Measures approximately 24″ x 30″ and comes in a gold frame.

Police said its value is private and difficult to estimate due to its historical importance.
“It’s a family heirloom and they just want it back,” Esman said.
