Thomas Mangan, a first-year police officer with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, was seriously injured in the February 2022 shooting. The officer sustained damage to his voice box and Adam’s apple when Hill shot him in the throat at the base of his neck.
The suspect who shot an Indianapolis police officer in the throat has been found guilty of attempted murder, among other charges.
“Officer Mangan’s life changed forever the night he answered a call to service his community,” Marion County Attorney Ryan Mears said in a statement Thursday.
Mangan was shot and killed while police officers responded to the scene of a car crash in the Fountain Square neighborhood of Indianapolis. Witnesses directed officers to the vehicle and to Hill, who was believed to be involved in the reported crash, prosecutors said.
