Leftists howl in outrage after Republican state rep reads graphic excerpts from books they want kept in school libraries

Leftists across New Hampshire were outraged after a Republican state lawmaker read excerpts from sexually explicit material that Democrats want kept in middle school and high school libraries.

Last Thursday, the state Congressman Glenn Cordery I stood on the House floor to defend HB 1419. HB 1419 would allow public school libraries and online libraries to include “literary, scientific, scientific, artistic, artistic, artistic, artistic, artistic, artistic, artistic, sexual expression.” It prohibited the provision of “manifestly offensive” material, including “nudity, sexual acts, sexual arousal, or sadomasochistic abuse.” medical, artistic, or political value. ” The bill would also empower parents to take action if they find such materials in libraries or schools.

As part of his speech, Mr. Corderi told his colleagues that he would read passages from some of the controversial books, warning the audience that such passages may not be appropriate for younger audiences. But before he could continue, other members of the House objected, arguing that he had the right to protect his ears from graphic content.

“Isn’t there a rule that if a member objects to the reading of a paper, they have to be suspended unless the House passes a continuance?” Democratic Rep. Lucy Weber later asked in her order.

Thereafter, the House of Representatives [Cordelli] However, a sizable minority of 173 people voted to silence him, and Libs, a popular anti-woke X account on TikTok, reported that not all of the voters were Democrats.

As a result, Cordelli read record passages from two books:Here and Queer: A Queer Girl’s Life Guide“But think about it for a second. Apparently, straight cis people lose their virginity when a penis is inserted into their vagina. So what happens when there is no penis?” Cordery was quoted.

He similarly read a passage from the 1999 young adult novel Speak that depicts sexual assault. Laurie Halse Anderson.

“Let’s be honest: sexually explicit and age-inappropriate material like this has no place in our schools,” Cordery added in his statement. “Again, this is not about banning books. It’s about making sure children have access to age-appropriate educational materials.”

The House of Representatives initially voted in favor of introducing the bill, then later voted the same day to postpone it indefinitely.

Then, the New Hampshire Democratic Party faced a barrage of criticism as rumors spread that despite its efforts to continue providing content to children, it recoiled in horror after hearing inappropriate content.

Perhaps because hypocrisy is hard to defend, Democratic state Rep. Colin Morse accused Cordery of being a “creepy old man” who tried to “force” people to listen to sexual content without their “consent.” and then attacked further. “Choosing to read a book is different than trying to force yourself to listen to some creepy old man read out loud,” she tweeted Sunday morning. She added: “I think some people need to learn about consent.”

The American Civil Liberties Union of New Hampshire echoed similar sentiments, celebrating the bill’s failure as a victory in the fight against “book banning” and “censorship.”

“The N.H. House of Representatives today voted against a bill that would create a state-run book banning process,” said Attorney General Jill Bissonnette, “affirming that New Hampshire schools are places of learning, not places of censorship.” I commend that.”

The fact that so many powerful leftists in the state voted to put sexually explicit books in schools in the name of freedom supported this bill in the name of protecting children. That’s angered many New Hampshire Republicans. One Republican state lawmaker even suggested that some of the opponents were “groomers” who posed a threat to the traditional American family.

“The purpose of government has been upended,” Republican state Rep. Michael Belcher told Blaze News in a statement. “The government considers your children its own. The government poses an existential threat to your family.

“Vote to take our kids out of public schools and remove these trimmers.”
