Beyoncé has taken her philanthropic spirit to the world of hair care, launching a new line of hair products and announcing a $500,000 grant to support salons and beauty school scholarships.
In Tuesday’s announcement, the “Texas Hold’em” singer’s philanthropic organization, the BeyGOOD Foundation, announced a partnership Her new hair care line, Cécred, is here.
A statement posted on BeyGOOD’s website said: “Developing talent, promoting professionalism and supporting entrepreneurship in the hair industry is extremely important to us.”
“That’s why we’re partnering with Secred to create the Secred x BeyGOOD Foundation, which celebrates the impact professional stylists have on hair health and the importance of championing the salon community.”
The grant will be awarded annually to 25 recipients in five locations: Los Angeles, Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, and New Jersey. The organization said these areas were chosen because of their “large and diverse communities of hairstylists.”
The 42-year-old Grammy winner’s mother, Tina Knowles, was a salon owner and hairstylist when Beyoncé was a child.
“In black culture, from the very beginning, if you can get your hair done, you’ll never be broke,” Knowles said. told Essence magazine In an interview published this week, she talked about her daughter’s Cécred product line.
“So much of who I am as a person comes from her salon,” Beyoncé said.
