Last week, a chaotic video surfaced showing a group of NYPD officers struggling to arrest a man inside a migrant tent shelter on Randall’s Island, with several unruly residents attacking police with objects including cushions, backpacks and water bottles. I’m throwing it at

The frantic scene occurred around 11 a.m. Thursday as police tried to remove a man from the controversial tent city between Manhattan and Queens. The vast tent shelter, which has 2,000 tents, was the scene of a stabbing last month, and another incident in January in which a man was stabbed in the neck.

Police were called to the scene last week after a suspect, who has not been identified, got into an altercation with a security guard and was acting disorderly, the NYPD told Fox News Digital.

Video shows the suspect refusing to leave and a disturbance erupting as about five officers try to remove him by force. Police have not released his age or whether he is an immigrant. It is unclear what led to the confrontation. The suspect was later charged with trespassing.

In the video posted To TikTok According to @gym_vida_sana, police can be seen struggling with the suspect, who was wearing a white T-shirt and black pants, as the crowd whistled and jeered loudly.

At one point, police were seen drawing their batons to push back the restless crowd.

One enraged immigrant screamed at police and jumped into the air, waving his fingers.

Another immigrant threw a cushion at the officer, hitting him in the face. A few seconds later, the backpack flew in the direction of the female police officer who had just drawn her baton. The backpack hit her on the side of the head, momentarily causing her to lose balance, footage shows.

A few seconds later, what appeared to be a blue bottle of water could be seen floating in the air, but fortunately it did not hit the officer. Some onlookers can be seen recording the incident on their cell phones.

A security guard is then seen assisting the arresting officer and eventually handcuffing the resisting suspect.

He was then picked up and dragged out of the tent as more objects were thrown in the direction of police. No injuries were reported.

“Two men started fighting and when the police tried to intervene, people started throwing bottles and bags,” Kyrgyz immigrant Umaylo told the New York Post.

Another resident told the magazine that the incident was “horrifying but normal” for the tent city, which was built last year as New York City struggles to contain the influx of migrants. Mayor Eric Adams said the illegal immigration crisis could cost the city up to $12 billion by 2025. At least 170,000 illegal immigrants have arrived in New York since spring 2022.

On January 6, 27-year-old Moises Coronado allegedly stabbed 24-year-old Dafren Canizares with a 5-inch knife at an immigrant shelter after an argument in the cafeteria.

Thursday’s incident occurred two weeks after a group of immigrants attacked two police officers in Times Square.
