Change Healthcare, a company that handles orders and patient payments across the United States, announced Wednesday morning that it became aware of the first “cybersecurity issue” impacting its network on the East Coast.

“Change Healthcare has experienced network interruptions related to cybersecurity issues, and our experts are working to resolve this issue. Once we become aware of external threats, we are working to protect our partners and patients. “As a result, we took immediate steps to disconnect the system to prevent further impact,” Change Healthcare said in a statement.

Other pharmacies across the United States have also announced that the attack on Change Healthcare has disrupted their ability to fulfill patient orders.

“The pharmacy is temporarily closed at 10 p.m.n.d. medical group. We understand this may be an inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work hard to resolve the issue. Our team is working to fully restore pharmacy services as soon as possible,” the post on Monday said.n.d. Medical Group is a medical center based around McConnell Air Force Base, Kansas.

“The estimated resolution date for this issue is tomorrow. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on our progress.”

Additionally, there are currently no published reports on the nature or causes of the cybersecurity issues that crippled Change Healthcare.

“Some of North America’s largest prescription processors are experiencing a nationwide outage,” Michigan-based Canadian Lakes Pharmacy wrote on social media Wednesday.

“While we can receive your RX, most insurance plans won’t allow us to bill your insurance company. If you’d like to wait a day or so to receive your RX, that’s great. Now! If necessary, we will do our best to accommodate your individual needs.”

Knight’s Pharmacy in Bellaire, Kentucky, wrote, “Due to a cyberattack on Change Healthcare, we are still unable to process prescriptions for insurance as of this morning.”

“Unfortunately, this is a nationwide power outage that we have no control over. We hope the situation will be resolved soon,” Knights Pharmacy said. “We will work to fill the prescription backlog as quickly as possible once the system is available. An estimated time period for service restoration has not yet been indicated. Thank you for your patience.”

“We are aware that Change Healthcare is experiencing network disruptions that are impacting certain business operations and those of other companies across the country,” the spokesperson said. “There is no evidence that CVS Health’s systems were compromised.”

Additionally, Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital in California stated that “all Camp Pendleton and affiliated pharmacies are unable to process prescription claims.”

“At this time, we are only able to assist patients with emergency prescriptions from hospital providers,” the hospital posted.
