A student at a public charter school in Washington, D.C., was robbed of his Air Jordan sneakers at gunpoint near campus shortly after school Wednesday afternoon.

A report from the Metropolitan Police Department said detectives believe the Paul Public Charter School student was walking in the area of 8th Street NW and Peabody Street NW when he was robbed on Wednesday around 3:40 p.m. Ta. Fox 5 DC.

According to Google Maps, the school is located on 8th Avenue NW, which intersects with Peabody Street NW, just off the school campus and near the playground.

The Crime Card section of the Metropolitan Police website confirms that an armed robbery occurred at that location and time on Wednesday. The crime was reported just over two hours later at 5:50 p.m.

Police said the boy, whose name, age and grade were not released, was grabbed by three people, punched him in the face, slammed him to the ground and had his shoes stolen from his feet.

During the robbery, one of the suspects allegedly said things like, “If you try to fight, I’ll blow your head off,” before firing a handgun from his waistband, FOX 5 reported. The robbers then fled with the shoes.

The boy was wearing Air Jordan 11 sneakers valued at about $250, FOX 5 reported. Depending on the style and whether the design is custom, the shoes may sell for much more than that price.
