Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said Friday on MSNBC’s “Alex Wagner Tonight” that former President Donald Trump “would sell this country for a dollar.”
Ocasio-Cortez said, “For me, it’s not even as a Democrat, but as an American. We really look at what happened on January 6th and believe it doesn’t have serious consequences.” If we don’t issue an order, if we don’t have a quick and clear process, this is not just about individual incidents, it’s about the message that this represents our democracy. , unless it is clear how unacceptable and how obvious the crimes that took place on and in the lead up to January 6 were, there will be open questions about whether this is acceptable. And that goes to the heart of not just our justice system, but our democracy.”
She added: “We’re hurtling towards an election, and this financial ruling in particular will give us a more desperate Donald Trump than ever before. He had classified documents at Mar-a-Lago about our national security secrets, and we don’t know the full story. But I believes that Donald Trump would sell this country for a dollar if he thought it was in his interest. And if we get a settlement of over $400 million, we We need to think seriously about the risks of what is happening here.”
