GOP Wants National Abortion Ban, It’s a ‘War on Women’

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that Republicans want a nationwide abortion ban as part of a “war on women.”

“Not only are they restricting young women’s right to self-determination to bear children, they are restricting young women’s rights to self-determination to have children, they are not allowing them to travel, they are forcing them to model themselves, and they are restricting the fate of their future lives,” Newsom said. “I’m doing it,” he said. A version passed in Idaho is now proposed in Tennessee, Oklahoma and Mississippi. Alabama’s AG himself wants to criminalize travel not only for children but also for adults seeking reproductive health care. This moment is so serious that we must be more proactive. ”

He added: “I’m concerned that the U.S. Supreme Court will once again set the tone and tenor of the debates we’re having today. It’s not just a war on travel. It’s just a war on reproductive health care. It’s not a war. It’s also a war on women in the broader sense, which includes contraceptives as we know them.”

Anchor Kristen Welker said, “You’re talking about the Republican position on this matter.” NBC News reports that Republican front-runner Donald Trump supports a 16-week federal ban with exceptions. It has been confirmed that the government has informally told the public that it is considering the matter.

“Here’s what he said — he supports a national ban, and if Lindsey Graham or someone else, that number would be much less than 16. He supports a national ban,” Newsom said. “I would sign a ban on it,” he said. You want to understand the outline of this debate that will unfold over the next nine months, ironically between now and November, and the consequences if Democrats are not successful in re-electing Biden. , consider the fact that he said: Say some out loud. ”
