Bob Costas slammed after calling Trump supporters ‘toxic cult’: ‘Deplorable moment’

Sportscaster Bob Costas drew the ire of “The Big Weekend Show” panelists on Saturday, hours after he accused Trump supporters of being part of a “toxic cult” on CNN’s “Smerconish.” .

“Seventy-four, 75 million people in this country voted for Donald Trump. I don’t know if that’s a great look. [for Costas]” said radio host and Fox News contributor Guy Benson.

On Saturday, as discussion turned to former President Donald Trump’s path to victory in Nikki Haley’s home state of South Carolina, Benson joined Fox News contributors Katie Pavlich and Lisa Booth to discuss current He shared his own views on the political situation with Mr. Costas.

“From sports to saying that Trump supporters are a cult…it was a deplorable moment for him,” Pavlich agreed.

Booth argued that this criticism also applies to the leading candidates in the Republican race to take back the White House in November. With the race down to two candidates and Donald Trump securing every primary and caucus victory so far, the spotlight is mostly on him.

“Let’s say Nikki Haley gets the nomination. But she’s not going to get the nomination. He’s going to take the same anger at her, right? They call John McCain a racist. Remember, Mitt Romney was a sexist. Basically, if you’re a Republican, you have a target on your back,” she said.

“They will criticize Donald Trump, but we, along with Joe Biden, are seeing the coalition of people who helped him win in 2020 crumble, and we are saying: We thought you were going to get better. You weren’t. And now, with President Trump in office, it’s easy to say, ‘Things went well on my watch…’ ” she continued.

Costas appeared on “Smerconish” to criticize his supporters and call Trump “the most disgraceful president in modern history.”

Mr Costas also accused President Biden of running for re-election and risking driving the country into “madness” by setting the stage for Mr Trump to become president again.

“He could lose to Trump and subject the nation to another four years of this kind of continued insanity. Or, if he squeaks by, he might not be able to pull off a second term. “Very high. By the end I will be 86 years old,” he said.

Former President Trump quickly defeated former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley in a showdown in the Palmetto State on Saturday, but as he looks to seal the nomination and face President Biden in a rematch in November, It was another important victory.

Both candidates are now turning their attention to Super Tuesday, scheduled for March 5th.
