A Philadelphia man suspected of hitting another man multiple times with a hatchet near a SEPTA station early Sunday morning has been arrested, authorities said.
The attack occurred around 1:18 a.m. on the SEPTA concourse under Eighth Avenue and Market Street near the Broadridge subway branch, Philadelphia police said.
The victim survived, but told responding officers that the man hit him six times in the head with an axe, kicked him in the face four times, and then fled. FOX29 Philadelphia report.
Officers then located a man matching the victim’s description of the suspect and took him into custody.

Police said the suspect was not in possession of a hatchet and no weapon was recovered at the scene, WPVI-TV reported.
The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Kenneth Rogers, who reportedly had an active warrant out of Philadelphia for attempted murder last year.

The victim was treated at a hospital with lacerations to the back of his head and bruising to his face. His current condition was unknown.
As of Feb. 18, 634 aggravated assaults had been reported citywide since the beginning of the year, compared with 636 during the same period last year, according to public police data.

Authorities said the investigation was ongoing and urged anyone with information about the incident to contact police.
