Former President Donald Trump erodes President Joe Biden’s lead among young voters, new Axios+ Generation Lab youth poll finds found.
Of the 1,073 U.S. adults aged 18 to 34 surveyed, 48% said they would vote for Trump “if the election were held today,” and 52% said they would vote for Biden. Given that Gen Z and Millennial voters favored Biden by 20 percentage points in the 2020 presidential election, this result may indicate that Biden is trailing among younger voters. According to Pew Research Center.

“We don’t know enough yet,” says Neil O’Brian, a political scientist at the University of Oregon. Said Axios. “But what about the idea that young people will continue to flow into the Democratic Party? There are some question marks around that.”
Biden has a slightly stronger lead among respondents who say they definitely plan to vote. Of the 42% of young participants who said they definitely planned to vote in November, 63% said they would choose Biden.
Mr. Trump’s apparent increase in popularity among young voters is consistent with respondents ranking the economy as a top issue heading into the election. Thirty-nine percent of young respondents said the economy was most important to them, followed by abortion at 16 percent, and student loans and immigration, both at 11 percent. 10% of young voters said climate change was most important, followed by guns at 7%.
The new poll follows several others that showed Trump with a narrow lead over Biden among young voters. Mr. A in December new york times/Siena Poll Indicated Trump leads Biden by 6 points among voters under 30. NBC News poll from November Indicated Among voters under 35, Trump leads Biden by 4 points.
The Axios + Generation Lab Youth poll was conducted February 3-14 and has a margin of error of ±3 percentage points.
