Virginia State Police say man arrested with gun and knife at church was involved in conspiracy violent attack After my prayers didn’t work and I was angry that I couldn’t find a romantic relationship.
Louis Jean, 35, of Falls Church, was arrested at Park Valley Church in Haymarket in September after police received a tip about an alleged plot against the church.
The person who provided this information was a woman who met Jiang on a dating app and went on a date in 2023, but they stopped seeing each other. She was alarmed by his posts on social media that seemed to express hostility towards the church and Christianity. One person is said to have written, “There will be blood on your hands.”
Police question her and when she goes to the church, they find that security has already found him and chased him out of the building. Police said he appeared to be “corralling” the church, including banging on the glass.
Police removed his handgun and ammunition and arrested him at the scene.
On Tuesday, local police announced they were dropping charges against Jiang Zemin to allow federal charges to be filed.
The 33-page affidavit outlines the case against Jiang, who denies planning an attack on the church. He told police he carried a concealed carry permit and was often armed.
Police said Jiang was a member of the church, but became disgruntled after participating in a tithing drive in which he donated $450 to the church. He emailed the church two days before his arrest asking for a refund, which he received.
When police searched his home, they found numerous copies of a one-page memo in which he claimed to have been a government assassin and apologized to “the families of those about to be killed.”
He further elaborated on his anger towards the church in his letter.
“Despite continuing to make sacrifices in the name of duty and silent giving to the church and community of God, every morning at 5 a.m. I knelt for an hour in prayer and thanked God in the name of Jesus,” he said. It is said that he wrote “These have been the worst days. Nothing has changed and my mental state continues to deteriorate. I am not allowed to be in love, to experience love or to experience a romantic relationship. is also not allowed.”
The letter further stated: targeting A man in a romantic relationship.
“I want them to know what it’s like for me to long for romantic love but never have it,” he reportedly wrote.
Police called this a “murder manifest.”
