Former President Trump on Saturday endorsed Republican candidate Mark Robinson in the North Carolina gubernatorial race, calling him the “Martin Luther King on steroids.”
Trump made the remarks at a campaign rally in Greensboro, and Robinson, who is already North Carolina’s lieutenant governor, added that he didn’t know how to react to the remarks.
President Trump again told Robinson, “I think you’re better than Martin Luther King, Jr. I think you’re twice as good as Martin Luther King, Jr.”
“You’re going to love it,” he added.

Robinson is the front-runner for the Republican nomination, with support from Trump and the NRA.
“What an honor it is to welcome President Donald Trump to my hometown of Greensboro today! I am humbled to have his support,” Robinson said in a statement Saturday. .

“The failure of the Democratic Party’s Biden-Stein policy has plunged our country into crisis,” he said, referring to Josh Stein, the leading Democratic candidate in the North Carolina gubernatorial race. “We need bolder warriors like Donald Trump. I will work with him to tackle the failed Biden-Stein policy and lead a united Republican ticket to victory in November. I look forward to getting our state and country back on track.”

Robinson will become North Carolina’s lieutenant governor in 2021, becoming the state’s first Black American lieutenant governor. He announced his candidacy for governor last April.

“I’m a law-abiding citizen and I’ve never shot anyone,” Robinson said at the rally, which has been viewed more than 200 million times. “Every time these shootings happen, no one wants to put the blame at the feet of the shooter. You want to put the blame at my feet. You want to turn around and limit my rights. .”
