Congressional Republicans are outraged that President Biden will build a wall around the U.S. Capitol for his State of the Union address while Americans suffer from his open borders, pro-illegal immigration policies.
Breitbart News spoke to several members of Congress on Thursday who expressed bewilderment over Biden’s tone-deaf wall construction. Federal authorities set up temporary fencing around the U.S. Capitol the night before Biden’s speech.

“The president wants to put up an artificial fence around this facility, but he’s not going to actually secure the southern border,” Rep. Stephanie Bice (R-Okla.) told Breitbart News. he said. It’s kind of a juxtaposition. You are trying to protect yourself, but not others. And I think that speaks volumes. ”
Republicans pointed to the recent killing of Laken Riley, allegedly by a Venezuelan national who crossed the border on Biden’s watch. Riley’s killing has ignited public anger over the dire consequences of Biden’s border policies.
“What’s happening at our southern border simply cannot be ignored, whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat, a conservative or a liberal. It doesn’t matter,” said Harriet. said Congressman Hageman (R-Wyo.). “What we’re seeing coming across those borders is devastating.”
Congressional Republicans also accused Democrats of hypocrisy in allowing immigrants to cross the border illegally and into American society while hiding behind a secure wall.
“Will the wall work? Just imagine!” said Rep. Corey Mills (R-Fla.). “Imagine a message coming from Washington that says we’re going to protect politicians but not the rest of the American people, and that we’re going to put more security at banks and federal buildings than at schools to protect our children. It’s a two-tiered, elitist message coming out of the swamp, and the American people need to pay attention to it.”
Rep. Dan Bishop (R-North Carolina) called Biden’s Capitol fencing “very selfish.”

“The image is that Joe Biden wants to be safe for himself, but he denies that to Lincoln Riley and all Americans like her,” he said. Ta.
Rep. Jack Bergman (R-Mich.) said there was no threat to the Capitol to warrant a fence and suggested Mr. Biden was engaging in political theater.
“This is an example of a lot of fuss over nothing,” he told Breitbart News. “They’re probably trying to lock people up in the Capitol so that no one leaves early…I don’t think there will be too many people trying to break into the Capitol.”

Rep. Josh Brechen (R-Okla.) compared Biden’s newly adopted open borders philosophy to his long-held position that walls work. As Brechen pointed out, during the 2006 debate on the Secure Fence Act, then-Senator Biden supported creating physical barriers at the border, specifically because of illegal drug trafficking.
“Then he gets elected president and says, ‘I’m not going to take another step,’ and stop building 200 miles of Congress-authorized and Congress-funded border wall,” Brechen said. . “It’s an ideological swing.”
Biden’s speech is scheduled to begin Thursday at 8pm ET.
