Employees of woke video game narrative consultancy Sweet Baby Inc. recently attempted to silence critics of the Steam gaming platform for the crime of listing games that Sweet Baby Inc. has consulted on. The resulting backlash included viral anti-woke messages and the deactivation of X/Twitter accounts by Sweet Baby employees and their left-wing journalist friends.
Many video game enthusiasts have noticed a decline in the quality of stories and writing in games in recent years. In many of these cases, one of his group of outside consultants was hired by a major game studio as a “narrative consultant.” Montreal-based consultancy group Sweet Baby says on its website that its goal is to “diversify and enrich the video game industry while telling better, more relatable stories.” We aim to make gaming more engaging, more fun, more meaningful, and more inclusive for everyone. ”
Sweet Baby has worked with a variety of notable studios, including Xbox Game Studios, Electronic Arts (EA), Valve, Sony Santa Monica Studio, 2K, Ubisoft, Square Enix, and Warner Bros. Studios. His website for the company lists 12 games they contributed to, including some well-known titles such as: Alan Wake II, God of War: Ragnarok, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and The Crew Motorfest.
One Steam user named Kabrutus created a Steam Curator list to track games developed by Sweet Baby Inc., as many gamers noticed the poor quality of the writing in games involving Sweet Baby Inc. So I decided to issue a warning to my fellow gamers. There are currently 16 titles on the list. Note that Kabrutus’ curatorial list is just that: a list. This is a list focused on games developed by Sweet Baby Inc. There is no attack on the company or the quality of the game, just a confirmation that Sweet Baby took inspiration from the game’s story, which was built on information posted on his website by the company itself.

However, this list was seen as a direct attack by Chris Kindred, one of the Sweet Baby employees in particular, who attempted to have Kabrutus and his Steam Curator list removed through a series of posts on X/Twitter, which Kindred said I reported the list to another employee, and the creator claimed it violated Steam’s Code of Conduct. To make the censorship campaign even more despicable, Kindred also tried to have Kabrutus’s Steam account banned. This Brazil-based gamer claims he has spent thousands of dollars on his Steam library over the years. This means that Kindred was not only censoring his speech, but was also trying to take away his ability to play the video games he had purchased.
Unsurprisingly, Kindred’s actions backfired and his X/Twitter account was temporarily restricted, preventing him from posting, liking, or following him for 6 days and 20 hours. The Park Place report Kindred shared a screenshot of account restrictions on alternative social media platform BlueSky, expressing frustration and defeat.
In a series of posts on BlueSky, Kindred describes the gaming community’s deep-rooted grudge against Sweet Baby, calling the company a Sandwich maker for widespread dissatisfaction with market conditions, studio decisions, and changes in society that challenge certain beliefs. I made it clear that I consider it a bag. .
“They believe we are a superfirm funded by BlackRock, which receives ESG funding, and has been tasked by some entity to hold the studio hostage,” Kindred wrote. He claimed that the community had misconceptions about the company’s influence and operations. Kindred also claimed that gamers don’t understand Sweet Baby’s role in video game development, but gamers have noticed that the majority of games Sweet Baby has worked on have faced a significant drop in writing quality. He claimed to be wise enough to realize it.

Kindred also claimed that Sweet Baby’s role often comes at the end of a game’s development cycle, and is often “just a wait-and-see” role.

But Sweet Baby’s own co-founder Kim Belair says the company is encouraging game developers to “blackmail” them into hiring to ensure the games are “diverse” enough. It has publicly explained its tactics, and the alternative is likely cancellation by the woke left. This doesn’t seem like the job of a studio that just “wait and see” at the end of a game’s development cycle.

Several other publications have attempted to cover this article, claiming that “gamer trolls” are “harassing” the company, but this too merely lists the games they are involved with. is. This includes a Kotaku article written by Alyssa Mercante, the publication’s senior editor. She hilariously attempts to hack into her Discord server for the group, where she asks tough questions like “Is there a reason why more people don’t have names and photos associated with their accounts here?” I did.

Another important element that is omitted from most reporting on this topic is that not only did Kindred attempt to shut down the Steam Curator List highlighting games that Sweet Baby was involved with, but Kindred also deleted Kabrutus’ Steam account. That’s what I wanted to do. Overall. Not only did Kindred want her Steam curator list removed, but she also encouraged her followers to report her Kabrutus account in order to have her entire game library removed. This could be worth hundreds to thousands of dollars, depending on how many games Kabrutus has purchased over the years.
So some of the employees at Sweet Baby Inc are trying to get people to flag accounts and curators a lot.

Despite Kindred’s efforts, the popularity of the Steam curator list has skyrocketed, with the number of followers increasing from approximately 20,000 to over 220,000 as of this writing. The creator of the list, Cabrutas, values authenticity and has a policy of removing games from the list if the source of information regarding Sweet Baby Inc’s involvement is deemed unreliable.
Kabrutus recently posted an update claiming that Steam had responded to inquiries regarding the possible removal of curator listings and would not take any action against them.

As the gaming community continues to debate the merits of diversity consultancies, how will Sweet Baby Inc. and its employees respond to the backlash and whether this will affect future collaboration with game developers and publishers? I don’t know yet. So far, the company doesn’t seem to be taking the criticism too kindly. X official account is private.
As for Kindred, his account was unlocked, but he had to make it private immediately after receiving backlash for insulting the recently deceased Akira Toriyama (creator of the popular Japanese anime Dragon Ball Z). did not become.
Sweet Baby Inc.’s harassers remain unapologetic. Even after Toriyama leaves, he continues to attack game developers and gamers.
