Ellie Bentley lost part of ear in hit-and-run crash: lawyer

A 22-year-old British woman and the ex-girlfriend of a soccer player lost most of her right ear and lost the ability to move her right arm when she was mowed down by a car while hiding from nearby gunfire in St. Louis, Missouri. That’s what it means. lawyer.

She is just the latest victim of violence in one of America’s deadliest cities.

St. Louis, with a population of 293,000, recorded 200 homicides in 2022. This is a rate of 68 cases per 100,000 residents for the same year, the second highest rate among major U.S. cities.

Only New Orleans had a higher murder rate in 2022.

This number is 13 times higher than New York City’s murder rate and 2.5 times higher than Chicago’s murder rate.

Police initially said the nearby shooting and the mowing down of the Bentley were related. But on Tuesday, they announced that an investigation found the two incidents were not related.

Diontae Taylor, 25, was later arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with bodily injury.

Ms Bentley’s lawyer said staff at a nearby bar saved her life by coming to her aid after she suffered severe injuries.

“She was lying in the road screaming for help,” Tobin said. “The Platypus bartender and staff gave her life-saving treatment.”

Bentley had moved to the United States to follow her American boyfriend Vassilev, who had moved to St. Louis FC after a stint at Aston Villa. The pair subsequently broke up.

Tobin said the road to recovery is long.

She started a GoFundMe and raised more than $21,000 to help pay for medical bills. She hopes to raise $75,000.
