Biden’s State Dept. Gave Tourist Visa to Brazilian Accused of Child Rape

President Joe Biden’s State Department granted a B-2 tourist visa to a Brazilian fugitive who was later wanted by authorities on charges of raping a child.

In March 2022, the 40-year-old Brazilian approved Enter the United States on a tourist visa granted by the State Department. By June 2022, Brazilian authorities began searching for him on suspicion of raping a child under 14 in the Brazilian state of Paraná.

After overstaying his visa by staying in the U.S. for more than a year, the Brazilian became an illegal alien fugitive residing in the U.S. In fiscal year 2022, nearly 854,000 foreign nationals will illegally overstay their visas. Because he stayed there, he became an illegal alien.

Last month, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested a Brazilian national at his home in Bridgeport, Connecticut. He remains in ICE custody until deported.

“In addition to violating immigration law, this undocumented fugitive is wanted for rape of a minor in his home country,” said ICE Officer Todd Lyons.

This case is just the latest example of the Biden administration’s State Department approving nonimmigrant visas for foreign nationals seeking to enter the United States in an actual attempt to evade law enforcement in their home countries.

For example, Edimir Gustavo Eckelberg, 62, of Brazil, was convicted of raping a child in Florianopolis, Brazil, even though he has not yet been sentenced. was allowed to enter the United States on a tourist visa.

Also last year, Luis Fernando Moreira de Asuncao Oliveira, 39, of Brazil, was convicted of murder in December 2018, and despite being sentenced, he was sentenced to death in July 2021. was allowed to enter the United States on a tourist visa.
