London police said on Monday they had arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder after two people were injured with crossbow bolts in two separate attacks in the capital.
An investigation was launched after a 44-year-old woman was hit in the head with a crossbow bolt at a residential property in Shoreditch, east London, on March 4. In a separate incident on March 14, a 20-year-old man was wounded in the neck with the same weapon in the same area.
The Metropolitan Police Department said their injuries were not life-threatening.

The force said a 47-year-old man was arrested in Shoreditch late on Sunday and officers searched his home where they found weapons including a crossbow and knife.

Detective Chief Inspector James Conway said the arrest was a “significant development”, but added the investigation was complex and ongoing. The suspect is being held at a police station in east London.

The British government is considering tightening regulations on crossbows, similar to firearms.
Currently, anyone over the age of 18 can legally purchase a crossbow, but carrying a crossbow in public without a valid reason can result in up to four years in prison.
