The second suspect in the decades-old cold case of a Maryland teenage girl was publicly identified Monday.
Anne Arundel County Police say Donald Willard, 74, who died in 2010, was involved in the 1970 death of Pamela Lynn Conyers.
Last year, police identified Forrest Clyde Williams III, who died in Virginia in 2018, as the prime suspect in the case. Williams was identified through DNA testing in March 2023.
Anne Arundel County Police Chief Amal Awad said Monday that had both men lived, they would have been charged with murder.

Conyers, 16, was reported missing by her family after running errands at Harndale Mall on October 16, 1970, at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Her car was found in a wooded area on October 19, 1970. Her body was found the next day between the eastbound and westbound lanes of Maryland Route 177.
Her cause of death was determined to be homicide due to “asphyxia due to strangulation.”
Evidence was collected from the car and Conyers’ clothing, leading to Williams’ identity. The FBI said forensic genetic genealogy led police to identify Willard as the second suspect.

Despite identifying two suspects, authorities are still asking the public for assistance in the investigation.
Authorities are still trying to determine whether Williams and Willard were involved in other murders or knew each other or Conyers before the crimes.

Police spokesman Justin Mulcahy said: “We do not know if these men committed further crimes.”
