CNN host snaps when Kevin O’Leary points out why Trump civil fraud ruling is ‘absolutely horrific’: ‘Hold on a second’

CNN anchor Laura Coates on Monday slammed businessman Kevin O’Leary for claiming Donald Trump has treated him unfairly.

On Monday, Trump’s lawyers revealed that the former president will not be able to come up with nearly $500 million needed to appeal a New York state civil fraud judgment. New York Attorney General Letitia James (D), who has been campaigning against President Trump, has repeatedly threatened to seize Trump’s assets unless he pays exorbitant fines.

O’Leary told Coates that such messages were “horrifying” and uniquely anti-American.

“It’s a great message to send to the world. If you make a claim when you don’t have the money, you lose money. There was no fraud here, in a situation where people are actually losing money. There was no fraud here. Deutsche Bank, which did this, became complete,” O’Leary said.

“It’s a great message for New York. It’s a great message for America,” he scoffed. “I think this was a statement that should have been made at some point in Venezuela. It’s not a joke. It’s a scary, scary message.”

He continued: “There is no such thing as a $500 million bond. There never has been. Never. This law has never been applied. Forget about Trump. It has nothing to do with Trump. . All there is to do about America and the New York brand. I said, “I love this state. My kids live here. People all over the world watching this.” It’s a terrible message to send. It’s really scary.”

Mr. O’Leary was not yet finished making his case. It said Mr. James did not consider the long-term consequences of targeting President Trump. But Mr. Coates decided he was done with O’Leary, and she began to interrupt him.

“Wait, Kevin. Kevin, wait a second,” Coates interrupted. “wait a minute.”

But O’Leary kept talking and tried to complete his idea, causing Coates to declare, “I’ve got a great voice, and it’s not going to be debated!”

“What are you doing?” she then asked him.

“This is not America, but it’s the ‘Laura Coates Live’ show and I’m speaking, so that’s going to be the rule. It’s not Venezuela,” Coates continued. “This is Laura Coates Live.” Hello, my name is Laura Coates. ”

Mr. O’Leary has been harshly critical of Mr. Trump’s ruling, and famously declared that he would never do business in New York again because of the ruling.
