Facebook, Instagram and Messenger were down on Wednesday, with nearly 2,000 users around the world reporting being unable to log in to the popular social media platforms, according to DownDetector.
DownDetector reports that meth-owned sites began proliferating around 10 a.m. ET and quickly snowballed.
The tracking site found that of the approximately 1,700 people who reported an issue, 70% were unable to log into the app and 22% had problems accessing the website. Additionally he was experiencing login issues in 8% of cases.
The Post has reached out to Mehta for comment.
Meta users also took to rival Platform X to report the outage and ask if other users were experiencing the same issue.
This is the second time in just over two weeks that Meta’s widely used social media platform has suffered an outage.
A technical issue caused widespread login issues across Meta’s Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and Messenger platforms for several hours on March 5th.
Andy Stone, head of communications at Meta, acknowledged the issue with No,” he said.
Users reported being locked out of their Facebook accounts and not updating their feeds, threads, or Instagram on the platform.
A senior official at the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency told reporters that the agency is “not aware of any connection to any specific election or any connection between the outage and any specific malicious cyber activity.”
This is a developing story.
