A Trenton, N.J., homeowner shot and killed a man who smashed his front door with a hammer and destroyed his Ring camera before breaking into his home over the weekend, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said. I told Patch Tuesday.
What are the details?
Trenton police responded to a home on Burt Avenue around 10:25 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report of a shooting, the newspaper reported.
Patch said a preliminary investigation revealed the homeowner fired several shots with a hammer at an unknown person who was banging on the front door and destroying a Ring camera.
The individual entered the front yard area of the home at the same time the shots were fired, Onofri added at the exit.
Patch added that a Trenton detective who was in the area on an unrelated mission found a person, identified as Andrei Ingram, 34, of Trenton, who had been shot on the ground on St. Francis Avenue.
Ingram suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Onofri said.
Patch said no charges have been filed, but Mercer County Homicide Task Force and Trenton Police are investigating.
