President Joe Biden has issued new environmental federal regulations to begin phasing out gasoline-powered vehicles and requires U.S. automakers to produce electric vehicles (EVs) as part of a sweeping green energy policy.
Biden on Wednesday announced rules that would require the majority of new cars sold in the U.S. market to be electric or hybrid by 2032. new york times detail:
After nearly three years in development, the Environmental Protection Agency’s new tailpipe pollution regulations will change the American auto market. Last year, dealers sold a record 1.2 million electric cars, but they accounted for just 7.6% of total U.S. car sales, far short of the new regulation’s goal of 56%. Another 16% of new cars sold will be hybrids. [Emphasis added]
In a statement to timesBiden called his green energy policy an “ambitious goal” and the beginning of “historic progress” in combating global warming.
“Three years ago, I set an ambitious goal for half of all new cars and trucks sold in 2030 to be zero-emissions,” Biden said. “Together, we have made historic progress. Hundreds of new factories have expanded across the country. Hundreds of billions of dollars in private investment and thousands of good-paying union jobs. And we have achieved our 2030 goals and will continue to move forward.”
The regulations come after a Consumer Reports study published last year found that U.S. consumers report about 80% more problems with EVs than those with conventional gas-powered cars. nevertheless, it was introduced.

According to the report, most of the issues consumers face with EVs include long charging times, a general lack of charging stations, lithium-ion battery issues, and incorrect installation of exterior and interior components; And then there was the engine failure.
Similarly, auto dealers across the country have been warning the Biden administration for months about a general lack of interest in EVs among American consumers.
“With each passing day, it becomes increasingly clear that this attempt at an electric vehicle mandate is unrealistic given current and projected customer demand,” auto dealers wrote late last year. They sent a letter to Biden asking him to cancel his green energy policies.

Domestic auto workers also see their jobs taken away and wages reduced because EV production requires far less labor and the supply chain for EVs with lithium-ion batteries is dominated by China. There are strong concerns that this will be reduced.
During last year’s strike, autoworkers said they feared Biden’s green energy policies.
“I think EVs are going to destroy us,” said Whitney Walch, 28, who works at Stellantis’ Portland Parts Distribution Center in Beaverton, Oregon. “… [EVs] No spark plugs or oil filters required. We sell a lot of them. If those parts aren’t in place, I don’t think there’s much to do. ”
Another auto worker said it’s “almost inevitable” that their jobs will disappear because of Biden’s green energy policies.

Still, United Auto Workers (UAW) President Sean Fein supported Mr. Biden, but despite Biden’s promise to repeal the EV mandate, a “vast majority” of American autoworkers supported Biden. He admitted that he would not vote for him.
“Joe Biden has supported every blood-sucking globalist attack on American autoworkers,” President Trump told autoworkers in Michigan last year.
