President Joe Biden has issued new environmental federal regulations to begin phasing out gasoline-powered vehicles and requires U.S. automakers to produce electric vehicles (EVs) as part of a sweeping green energy policy.

“Three years ago, I set an ambitious goal for half of all new cars and trucks sold in 2030 to be zero-emissions,” Biden said. “Together, we have made historic progress. Hundreds of new factories have expanded across the country. Hundreds of billions of dollars in private investment and thousands of good-paying union jobs. And we have achieved our 2030 goals and will continue to move forward.”
