An inmate who escaped from a Philadelphia prison was caught leaving Planet Fitness on Friday and arrested, CBS Philadelphia reports.
Isaiah Tillman, 33, was arrested by federal marshals near Philadelphia, ending a tense weeks-long manhunt. Tillman escaped from Blair County Jail on December 3, 2023, while facing drug charges and a parole violation. according to to CBS Philadelphia. Investigators with the Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes and Fugitive Task Force captured an inmate coming out of the gym. Earlier in the week, they had tracked him to Kensington and then to Planet Fitness.

According to a report on CBS Philadelphia, U.S. Marshal Robert Clark, acting supervisor of the Eastern Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force, said, “This arrest is an important step in the efforts of the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh Fugitive Task Forces to apprehend dangerous fugitives. This is the result of our enthusiastic cooperation.” “The Sheriff’s Office is by far the best in the industry at finding people who don’t want to be found, and this arrest reinforces that fact.” (Related: Inmate and accomplice arrested in brazen escape, authorities say)
After his arrest, Mr. Tillman was taken into custody in Philadelphia and will be transported to Blair County for charges. His arrest was not the only breakthrough in the case. Three days after the incident, U.S. Marshals reported that investigators in Philadelphia found a red Ford F-150 similar to the red Ford F-150 that Tillman allegedly stole. According to CBS Philadelphia, they suspect Tillman changed the license plate on his car on December 5th. Deputies seized the red truck and identified it by its license plate, which was stolen on Dec. 15.
