NYPD reports 2 stabbing subway incidents: 52-year-old man attacked for refusing to stop smoking and woman stabbed in the back

2 people were stabbed separate incidents on a New York City subway, according to the New York City Police Department.

One incident was reported around 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Franklin Avenue Station in Bedford-Stuyvesant. A 21-year-old woman was stabbed several times in her back.

According to police, the suspect in the incident was a woman wearing all black who fled the scene. The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital and is expected to survive.

In the second incident, a 52-year-old man Rejected Police said he tried to quit smoking and they got into an argument over it. He was stabbed several times in the back during the altercation. The incident happened around 5 a.m. on the J train near the Kosciuszko Street station in Brooklyn.

The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition. A suspect was taken into custody in this incident, and is believed to be a man in his 50s.

Officials said the gunman was unlikely to be charged because it appears he fired in self-defense. The assailant was identified as 36-year-old Dajuan Robinson and the victim as 32-year-old Younes Obouad.
