Former Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) quipped on MSNBC’s “Inside” Monday that former President Donald Trump would be under fire if he testified in court and put his hand on a Bible.
host Jen Psaki asked. “As you look at this, you see Democrats throwing mixed messages at him, but there’s a lot of material out there, no question about it. Obviously his opposition to abortion rights. There are lawsuits that are threatening. Threats to the Affordable Care Act. What should people do? There are so many that there is almost no choice. What, in your opinion, is the right approach?”
Franken said, “The right approach is to go door-to-door and knock on doors, especially in blue areas, to get out the vote. It’s the right thing for people to participate and do that. That’s the right discussion.”
He added, “As these cases unfold, thank God, there will actually be a trial. I think it will become very clear. You’re talking to Michael Cohen. You started the show. I think it’s clear that this case is very much a hush money case. You know, I’m looking forward to — I don’t know if he’s going to testify, his lawyer is… I know he lies a lot, but I hope he will testify, because when he puts his hand on the Bible, I want to see it flare up.”
