Issue: The brutal murder of a woman, allegedly by two squatters living in a Manhattan apartment.
If ever there was a case that would bring back the death penalty, it would definitely be the case of two despicable squatters, Halley Tejada and Kensley Alston (“Murderer Found in Garbage Bag,” March 24) ).
The pair reportedly not only took over Nadia Vitels’ Manhattan apartment, but upon discovering their presence, they bludgeoned her to death and brutally stuffed her body into a duffel bag.
No consequence is too great for them and life in prison would be too lenient. For allegedly taking Vitels’ life, the two men lost all rights. They serve no purpose other than as parasites in our society. We must give the Vitels family some closure and the justice they deserve.

Prosecute recent murders involving crimes on the subway, fare evasion, and general harm to law-abiding citizens.
In this state, there is a sense of an uphill battle on all fronts. Where are our elected representatives? I don’t say “our”. Because they haven’t been there for “us” for too long.

It is unacceptable for individuals like Tejada and Alston to illegally occupy property and allegedly commit such heinous acts of violence.
Their arrests in Pennsylvania served as a reminder of the serious consequences of allowing squatters to exploit legal loopholes and avoid responsibility for their actions.
I’m also disappointed in the lack of action from progressive lawmakers to address the loopholes that allow squatters to take advantage of property owners.
The rights of squatters should not supersede the rights of property owners or compromise public safety. It is imperative that our lawmakers take decisive action to strengthen the law and ensure justice is served for victims of crimes like Vitel.

There is a simple solution to this. Prohibit squatters’ rights and prevent this from happening immediately.
As long as the taxes are paid, no one cares what a person does with legally owned property or whether the owner lives there.

Issue: Attack on a Moscow theater allegedly carried out by members of the terrorist organization ISIS.
Mark Toth and Jonathan Sweet’s qualifications qualifies them for serious consideration, but they still do not want to suggest that the recent attack on a concert venue in Moscow was orchestrated by Vladimir Putin for political purposes related to the Ukraine war. may be wrong (“False Flag?”, Post Opinion, March 25).
ISIS has its own motives for this action. Russia supports the Bashar al-Assad regime and maintains multiple air bases in Syria and two naval bases on the Mediterranean coast. This geopolitical position threatens the Islamic militia group ISIS, which opposes Assad and wants a desperate comeback.

This latest incident sounds suspiciously similar to a series of apartment bombings in Russia in 1999 that were used to justify Russia’s second war against Chechnya.
The Prime Minister of Russia at the time was President Putin. The investigation continued for months, during which time people started asking too many questions. Some of them, like Alexander Litvinenko, were assassinated.
President Putin is currently mired in an unpopular war and needs a distraction. Therefore, President Putin’s “authenticity” is somewhat questionable.
