Daphne Joy first filed domestic violence charges against her ex 50 Cent in 2013, claiming he kicked her and destroyed more than $7,000 worth of property.
Los Angeles Police Department responded to an incident on June 23, 2013 at a condominium in Toluca Lake, California. The incident involved an altercation between the “In Da Club” rapper and the then-unnamed victim, which left Joy trapped in her and their home. Child, Your Highness, I am in my bedroom.
The Los Angeles City Attorney’s office said at the time that 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson III, is suspected of kicking in the door and kicking the victim, injuring him.
Officers found shattered chandeliers and broken furniture throughout the condo, as well as ransacked closets, broken televisions and broken lamps. The Grammy winner was later charged with five counts, one count of domestic violence and four counts of criminal damage to property.
The victim was initially listed as Jane Doe, but Joy later came forward and revealed that she had been the subject of the G-Unit Records founder’s furious allegations.
“Daphne Joy and Curtis Jackson have been together in an exclusive relationship for several years,” Joy’s lawyer said in a statement at the time (Via CNN).
“Now that they have a child together, Daphne’s first priority now is to ensure her and the baby’s safety during this difficult time. We would also like to ask everyone to respect her and the baby’s privacy.” I hope you will.”
50 Cent ultimately pleaded no contest to criminal damage to property and agreed to three years of probation and 30 days of community service. The remaining three criminal damage to property charges and one domestic violence charge were dropped as part of the agreement.
He also had to pay $7,100 in restitution and a $2,390 fine.
The 2013 incident resurfaced this week after the “Candy Shop” cast was publicly shamed for naming Joy as one of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ alleged sex workers, but Joy He denied it.
“Let’s really focus on your true evil act of raping me and physically abusing me,” she claimed on Instagram on Thursday. “You are no longer my oppressor; from now on my God will deal with you.”
50 Cent called Joy’s resurfaced allegations “false and baseless” and said he would seek sole custody of the now 11-year-old, given the sex worker’s allegations against his ex.
