A container ship collided with a major bridge early Tuesday morning, causing it to snap and fall into the river.

On Wednesday, National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chair Jennifer Homendy said her team discovered and identified 56 containers containing “764 tons of hazardous materials” on board the cargo ship.

Substances that threaten the water around the bridge include corrosives, lithium-ion batteries, and flammable materials.

A sheen of harmful substances was seen in the waterways. It is unclear which containers on the Singapore ship were destroyed. The exact number will be known within 2-4 weeks.
