‘Deeply depressed’ Maryland shelter cat goes viral after adoption plea

Officials at a Maryland animal shelter are confident one of its residents will soon be adopted into a kinder home after a Facebook post about his plight went viral overnight.

Mr. O, a 2-year-old white and orange cat, was recently surrendered to St. Mary’s Animal Adoption and Resource Center in California, Maryland, after his original family moved and could no longer take him.

Mr. O has a “very kind personality,” and “he loves sitting with his friends over his morning coffee, watching the wild birds from the window, and he loves scratching his chin,” said the animal health worker at the shelter. Darcy Scott said.

But it’s not because of his personality that he’s garnered so much attention on the internet.

“He is extremely depressed,” the shelter wrote.

Mr. O at the evacuation center said, “He cries loudly and tries to hide in the corner of the room,” and staff at the evacuation center are worried that “he will not be able to withstand this level of stress for a long time.” Ta.
