A Chinese team of investigators arrived in Pakistan on Friday to join the probe into the suicide bombing that killed five people earlier this week, officials said, as Pakistan continues its own investigation into the attack. .
The slain Chinese engineers and workers were heading to Das Dam, the largest hydroelectric project in northwestern Pakistan, on Tuesday when a suicide bomber rammed their car with an explosives-laden vehicle.

A Pakistani driver was also killed in Tuesday’s attack in Shangra district of Khyber Pakhtankhwa province. The Chinese government condemned the attack and called on Pakistan to conduct a detailed investigation and ensure the protection of thousands of citizens working in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

On Friday, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed Chinese investigators on Pakistan’s investigation into the attack, a government statement said.
Two days ago, Pakistani officials shared with the Chinese embassy the preliminary results of an investigation into the attack, for which no group has so far claimed responsibility.
In recent years, Chinese nationals working on CPEC-related projects have been targeted in Pakistan.

In July 2021, a suicide bomber detonated explosives inside a bus carrying Chinese and Pakistani engineers and workers, killing at least 13 people, including nine Chinese. Chinese companies temporarily suspended operations.
