Former President Trump is in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Tuesday, the first of two consecutive trips to the Midwest.
Trump is scheduled to speak at the Michigan event. relatively small group Number of people involved in law enforcement. The former president is expected to continue his policy on immigration, which he has long focused on as a politician, and to speak out critically about the Biden administration’s management of border policy.
In particular, President Trump reportedly plans to cite the recent murder of a woman in Grand Rapids as evidence of the dangers posed by illegal immigrants.
The confessed suspect in the crime is a previously deported Mexican national who reportedly had a romantic relationship with the victim.
The March 22 murders show similarities to the alleged murder of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley by a Venezuelan immigrant. Similar to Riley’s father, the family of at least one Michigan woman asked the media to refrain from portraying Riley’s death as a political message.
President Biden narrowly won Kent County, West Michigan, where Grand Rapids is located. Close margin in 2020however, many of the area’s communities voted Republican.
The former president is scheduled to speak at 2:30 p.m. EDT.
