On Friday’s “PBS NewsHour,” new york times Columnist David Brooks said Hamas’ “main strategy is to kill as many civilians as possible in order to gain world pressure to force Israel to cease operations.” However, “there is a growing callousness among Israelis towards the lives of Palestinians.” And he was pleased to see President Joe Biden pressuring Israel.
“I think there are certain conditions for aid,” Brooks said. “If Israel is not going to let a million people leave the country and move them to a safe zone in the north, we will do everything in our power to convince them to do so.” There should be pressure to do so. It would be against Israel’s interests and certainly against America’s interests to do so. I was heartened by the readout about the Biden-Netanyahu meeting. I was worried that Prime Minister Netanyahu might want to run for re-election against the United States, saying things like, “I’m the one who can protect you from pressure from those rabid Americans.” But , apparently he has not responded to the call. He has accepted the conditions laid out by President Biden. He has already complied with some of them, promising: [comply with] more. So this pressure Biden may want to put on Prime Minister Netanyahu without ending it or attaching conditions. ”
He went on to say, “I think there are two things that can be said to be contradictory. The first is that this is a war unlike any other.” and attacks on other cities. But I have never heard of another war where the enemy is in 500 miles of underground tunnels. The enemy’s main strategy is to force Israel to stop the world So it’s a very difficult deal. That being said, I’ve been covering the Middle East for a little while, and I’ve been covering the Middle East for a little while, and the We have certainly seen a growing callousness towards the lives of Palestinians within Israel. I don’t know how divided Prime Minister Netanyahu is with many people in Israel. They are trying to kill us. Why do you think it is necessary to put Israeli soldiers at risk to protect the people in your country? But you need to explain to them that this is for your own benefit. Apart from being an atrocity, it is only in Israel’s self-interest to protect a humanitarian disaster. Therefore, it is not only the dire situation in which Israel is fighting, but also the excessive aggressiveness and I think there’s both a growing callousness towards the suffering of people.”
