$2,000,000 Stolen From Bank of America Account in Devastating Scam, Triggering Lawsuit for Alleged Negligence, Breach of Contract and Violation of Federal Law: Report – The Daily Hodl

An elderly woman who lost millions of dollars to scammers is suing Bank of America (BofA) for alleged negligence, breach of contract, and violations of federal law.

Lynn Bucklin, a 67-year-old Florida resident, said BofA failed to adequately protect her from a scheme that drained her account of $2 million, a cyber litigation firm reported. vernon.

Lin said the scam began when she received emails and phone calls from people pretending to be Federal Trade Commission (FTC) investigators. The bad guys got Lin’s attention by saying that Lin’s social security number had been exposed.

One of the scammers, posing as an FTC employee by the name of Bruce Williams, sent Lin his credentials, including his badge and badge number. He also sent her a copy of the FTC’s letter stating that her account was being investigated for her fraudulent activity.

Lin believed the threat was real and gave in to the thieves’ instructions.

BofA employees are accused of greenlighting the transfer even though the deal was anomalous.

Mr. Lin is currently seeking assistance from the legal system, accusing BofA of hiring failures, breaches of contract, and violations of laws such as the Electronic Funds Transfer Act and the Florida Uniform Commercial Code.

“Under the guise of protecting her assets, the scammer convinced Bucklin to transfer money to her cryptocurrency account via wire transfer at a Bank of America branch in Naples, Florida.

Despite the irregularities of the transactions, Bucklin’s bank officials never questioned their legitimacy. Additionally, her scammers remotely accessed her computer, manipulated her accounts, and stole her identity. ”

Lin initially contacted BofA to try to get her money back, but the major lender was only able to recover $500,000 before dropping the case.
