Republican Kari Lake shocks with opposition to pro-life ruling, claims Arizona needs a ‘common sense solution’

Arizona Republican Kari Lake, a Republican candidate for a U.S. Senate seat, opposes pro-life rulings in Arizona.

On Tuesday, the Arizona Supreme Court ruled that a state law passed in 1864, decades before Arizona became a state, is enforceable. The law not only bans abortion, except to save the mother’s life, but also makes it a felony to perform or assist a woman in obtaining an abortion.

Lake denounced the ruling in a statement, arguing that “the pre-state law does not align with the mindset of Arizonans.”

“I am the only woman and mother in this race. I understand the fear, anxiety, and joy of pregnancy and motherhood. I wholeheartedly agree with President Trump. This is a very personal question and should be decided by each state and its people.” Lake Said.

“I oppose today’s ruling and call for the following. [Gov.] We urge Katie Hobbs and the state Legislature to quickly come up with common-sense solutions that Arizonans can support.”

Lake not only voiced his opposition to the ruling, but also vowed not to support a federal abortion ban if elected to the Senate.

“We’re not going to go to Washington, D.C., to legislate an issue that has been returned to the states,” Lake explained.

The problem with Lake’s position, pro-life advocates might argue, is that Roe vs. Wade It brought the issue of abortion back to individual states, with some states having no restrictions on abortion at all and theoretically allowing abortion up to the moment of birth.

In fact, seven states include Alaska, Colorado, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, and Vermont, as well as Washington, D.C. Abortion has no gestational restrictions..

That’s why one of the major pro-life organizations, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, slammed Donald Trump’s positions on abortion, which are mirrored by Lake.

“Unborn children and their mothers deserve national protection and national advocacy from the brutality of the abortion industry. Dobbs “This decision clearly authorizes both states and Congress to act,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA Pro-Life America. “This would cede the national debate to Democrats, who are relentless in their efforts to pass legislation that would mandate abortion.” Throughout the 9th month of pregnancy. If successful, states’ rights would be wiped out. ”

Lake’s opposition to the Arizona law is a change of direction.Just two years ago, she was praised This law is a “great law.”

Lake’s position on this issue is important because if he is elected to the U.S. Senate, he could be part of the Republican Party that regains the Senate majority.

That means her opposition to the federal abortion ban could derail efforts to pass it if Republicans win majorities in both chambers.
