We live in dangerous times. That’s the simple message FBI Director Christopher Wray will send Thursday as he calls for a budget increase and warns of “growing threats” to America’s public safety and national security.
Wray is expected to tell a House committee how the United States could be threatened by carrying out a coordinated terrorist attack similar to the one that killed scores of people at a concert hall in Russia last month, Fox News reported. Ta. report.
“As I reflect on my career in law enforcement, it is difficult to remember a time when so many threats to public safety and national security were heightened at once,” Wray said during a House Appropriations subcommittee hearing. I plan to talk about this. . “But as I sit here today, it’s true. We’re not in a position to give up here.”
At the hearing, Wray said that as what once seemed like a global danger looms, the federal government needs financial assistance to “address these threats” to keep Americans safe at home. I would argue that it is necessary.

“Now is not the time to give up or roll back. This is a time when we need your help the most. We have all the tools, all the tools we need to address these threats and keep the American people safe. We need all of our people and all of our resources,” Ray said.
Wray would say the FBI’s “immediate concern” is that individuals take inspiration from the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Middle East to carry out terrorist attacks in the United States.
He is expected to mention the terrorist attack on a Russian concert hall that killed 144 people in the deadliest attack on mainland Russia in two decades, Reuters said. report.

“…our most pressing concern is that individuals or small groups will take perverse inspiration from events in the Middle East and carry out attacks here at home. But now, we are increasingly concerned. “What we have is the possibility of a coordinated attack here in our homeland, similar to the ISIS-K attack we saw in a Russian concert hall a few weeks ago,” he would say.
Wray also plans to press lawmakers to renew the U.S. surveillance program, which expires this month, saying it is a vital tool for countering domestic adversaries.
As Breitbart News reported, plans to overhaul the program were blocked in the House of Representatives on Wednesday over concerns from lawmakers in both parties that it did not do enough to rein in the government’s oversight powers.
The fight over the inclusion of a measure that would require federal agents to obtain warrants to continue surveillance of Americans caught in the surveillance of foreign nationals will continue to be a contentious issue.
“This is critical to national security, and we are at a critical juncture,” Wray is expected to tell lawmakers.
