The team’s owner asked fans on the Citi Field homestand to applaud struggling Francisco Lindor as he stepped up to bat, but on Friday night, when Lindor stepped up to bat in the bottom of the first inning, , the small crowd responded to just that. Royals.

Lindor hit Michael Wacha’s first pitch, but the hard line drive resulted in a foul and Lindor flew to left.

On Friday, as the Mets returned home from a successful road trip, they discovered that their shortstop still had the worst record in the majors.

Last Saturday, Cohen supported the idea that Mets fans would give Lindor a standing ovation when the team returns to Queens despite the result.
